Treat your bio as an opportunity to show your true self. Be playful or funny if that's your personality, but make sure it's professional in tone. Keep it short and simple while providing good information people need to know about you.

What is an Instagram bio, and why does it matter?

An Instagram bio is an opportunity for you to tell your story and showcase the best about you or your business. It's also a chance to stand out from the crowd and attract new followers.

Telling your story is important because it helps people who follow you understand why they should continue doing so. Maybe you're a mom who writes about parenting or a musician who occasionally shares photos of your performances. Whatever the reason, remember that users want to know what they're going to get from following you before they click "Follow."

A good Instagram bio includes appropriate hashtags that help people find your account when searching for related topics. For example, if you're an entrepreneurship blogger, use hashtags like @entrepreneurialmindset.

  1. Include a description of yourself: Some of the best Instagram bios tend to relate directly to you or your business. Things to consider adding:
    1. Your job title(s), the business you own or work for, things you love, and what makes you stand out.
  2. Use keywords that make you searchable: You've probably heard the advice that if you want people to find you online, your name should be one of the top keywords in your profile. This is most true on social media sites where people might not know who you are. It's OK if this advice sounds a little hokey — it works! Choose a few.
  3. Add a call to action: The best way to get more followers on Instagram is by using a call to action in your bio. This call to action should be easy for your followers to see and act on. Your CTAs can be subtle or overt, but you want them to be easily accessible to your audience.
  4. List your interests: This is where you describe the aspects of life that interest you — including books, movies, TV shows, places you've travelled and hobbies. You don't have to be an guru in any of them, but it's helpful to share what moves or inspires you. If someone sees that you have similar interests, it helps build trust and makes them more likely to buy from you.
  5. Share your contact information: Your Instagram bio should include your website URL (so people can easily find your site), along with your username for each of the social networks you manage. If possible, also include your Twitter handle and your phone number and email address. To make it simpler for your audience to get in touch with you, add a messaging icon to your Instagram bio.
  6. Keep it clean and simple: You are not able to get your entire life story into your Instagram bio without feeling like it's too long. It's time to edit. Keeping it short and simple will help attract attention without requiring someone to scroll through an essay.
  7. Update it regularly: Some people prefer to have their Instagram bios link out to their Twitter profiles or websites, while others like to keep them short and simple. If you decide to include some links in your bio, update them regularly, so they're current when prospective followers check out your profile.
  8. Keep it clean: Don't use profanity or post links in your bio unless they're relevant (a link to an article about you might make sense, but that doesn't mean everyone wants to click on it).
  9. Be unique (but not too unique): Many businesses use their Instagram biographies for promotional purposes: They share pictures of their products and tell.

5 Instagram bio tricks

1. How to change the font in your Instagram bio

The thought that has been on the minds of many Instagrammers is: how do you change the font in your Instagram bio? Well, the good news is that it's super simple to do. And we will show you how.

The first step to changing the font in your Instagram bio is as follows:

Click on your Instagram profile, which will bring up all of your photos, likes etc. You will see a icon at the top right of your screen. Click it!

This will bring up a new menu. Click on "View Profile," This will take you to the official Instagram profile page. You can now see that your username and bio are plain black text on a white background. This contrasts with the rest of your profile which is plain white text on a black background. You need to make sure this contrast isn't too stark because it will be very difficult for users to read on mobile devices if you do not balance out your page's top and bottom halves.

To eliminate this stark contrast, click on "Design" at the top right-hand corner of your screen once again, then select "Background colour." From here, you can select any colour that you wish

It's easy to add emojis, symbols, and images to your Instagram bio. Here are our top 3 tips:

  1. Start typing any of these characters in your Instagram bio, e.g. the "sun" symbol (☀️), and the on-screen keyboard will switch automatically to the alphabet you need. So if you start typing "sun," it'll change to a "p." Once you've typed a single letter, keep going by tapping the spacebar. This works with all of the symbols listed below…
  2. There's also a long list of accented characters that can be added to your bio, which can be found by opening the emoji bar (tap the smiley face icon at the bottom left). These characters work with all languages except for English (UK) and French (France).
  3. You can add a picture to your account by uploading it from your computer/smartphone or taking a photo within Instagram itself. Just tap on "Add Media" on the bottom left of your profile page, then choose from Camera Roll or take a new pic within Insta itself. When you're done adding pics (you can add up to four), tap "Done."
