👋🏾Sanjay and Natasha here, It has been some time that we've been dedicated a post to our core entrepreneurs on their journeys and left the systems aside; well-being is a part of the journey. The most significant difference between then and now is we developed an entrepreneurial mindset when we look back. Because of that, the most essential things in our lives have gotten easier. And I believe most people will find it more accessible right now too.
Successful entrepreneurs usually have some skill or talent that separates them from mere workers. We call this talent. Just like a musician can be an expert in harmony or creativity — or can just as quickly be a plumber – successful entrepreneurs have a set of special innate abilities that help them excel at their profession.
Being an entrepreneur is not easy, but it can be rewarding to have the correct support system. Co-creating a business with other like-minded people can be where the real action is, and it allows you to meet new people who share your passion for the future of your business. If you're looking for some actionable ideas on how to start building the kind of company you want to work for or running your current business, then this article is for you. We're going to explore 6 essential entrepreneurial mindset characteristics that will help you.
What the hell is an Entrepreneurial Mindset?
An entrepreneurial mindset is best characterized by thinking small and maximizing our experience. This is rarely really changed. It's focused on building things and selling them. The focus is on getting the best deal you can for your market (or your product). It's about thinking about all possible alternatives and reacting to them before others do.
In a world where corporations are increasingly hiring/recruiting for skills rather than experience, a successful entrepreneur may look at what gift he needs to succeed and build his own skillset. Someone with an entrepreneurial mindset wants to learn.
It's tricky to determine who actually has the mindset of a successful entrepreneur. For example, many people try to sell you on the idea of entrepreneurial success through books, seminars, and self-help books. But these books don't present concrete, actionable steps on how to do this. Instead, we see people putting their thoughts into words and applying them to different situations. Once you learn how this works, you will become more comfortable applying your thoughts to different situations.
Importance of an Entrepreneurial Mindset
Your mindset is the inner part of your brain that makes decisions. It influences what thoughts and feelings you experience, how you think and feel, and how productive you are. In brief, what most people mean when they say mindset is the set of values, thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and actions that guide how you try to get what you want in life. These aspects of your mindset will determine how successful you are as an entrepreneur—and maybe even more importantly, how influential. Your mindset will be fundamental to your entrepreneurial journey.
How to think like an entrepreneur: top 6 characteristics
1. Goal-Oriented 🥅
Think of goals as a frame. They tell you what to focus on, how to approach the task at hand, and what you should expect from getting there. The best entrepreneurs have goal-oriented frames because the jobs they handle are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-sensitive – just like setting healthy goals for life in general!
So, when creating an entrepreneurial mindset, set SMART goals – goals that are:
2. Does not fear failure 😤
As an entrepreneur, I always viewed failure as nothing more than a stepping stone to better success. When we are going through something difficult, why wouldn't we want to look at different ways of overcoming it as an entrepreneur? Why wouldn't we want to learn from our mistakes and improve ourselves? Edison said that if you haven't tried something at least 10 times, you are probably dead in the water. This is what entrepreneurship is all about – taking risks and learning from failure. At the end of the day, being successful isn't about the things you have conquered so far in your life – it's about finding every new skill that you can to make the life that you want.
3. Collaborative 🔁
A wonderful thing about being an entrepreneur – and a crucial part of building a successful business – is that it allows you to experience the world on your own terms. "When the entrepreneur creates something new and different, whether in the laboratory or factory, the force of attraction is so great that once the initial interest disappears, the creative mind finds that it can't enjoy the activity any longer without seeking new ideas. At least, that how we think the saying goes 😂.
4. Comfortable with Discomfort 🛀🏾
There is a critical quality underlying all our habits: Courage. Having the courage to do something new is the secret sauce for growth and expansion. When you begin to try something new, frequently, you will fail. This is natural. But failure is an essential part of growing and expanding as an entrepreneur. It's also a necessary part of learning to be comfortable with discomfort so you can learn from your failures and improve in ways that will help grow your business.
5. Problem-Solving thin 💬
If you are an entrepreneur, then every problem will determine the solution to your business. It may be deciding which product to build or which advertising strategy will work best. Problem-solving is also the core of every good essay written by a well-prepared prisoner who hasn't realized how much time he has wasted. In fact, I would go on and say that the goal of every entrepreneur should be to find problems and try to find solutions for them."" There you have it—a little way of giving ourself credit for coming up with these ideas. The only thing I can take pride in is that I created a bunch of random stuff out of my head and extracted straws from there to try out on my computer screen.
6. Focused 🧘🏾♂️🧘🏽♀️
The best people aren't worried about the future. The best entrepreneurs are focused on achieving their goals. They're focused, never procrastinate, and always prioritize the most critical tasks. They don't fly by. They don't have unrealistic expectations of doing everything perfectly on their first day and focusing on passing off the next as quickly as possible when all they really need is a little planning and patience.
